Sorry for the late notices for the training, the schedule is finally out only yesterday!

Hope for all your understanding! :D

AND SHOES ARE COMPULSORY FOR ALL TRAINING!

**Please take note:

For VIVIAN'S SCORE: Vivian is on SIP now, so her training schedule is slightly different. her training for first week will be on 20/12/2011, Tues 3-6pm. Second training will be on 31/12/2011, Saturday!

SO, this means that EVERYONE has to be present for the compulsory training on MONDAY 5-9PM, and WED 12-9PM. the training is planned this way as we have to teach your all scores to prepare for the SALVO CONCERT in 23/3/2012, and at the same time, we have to prepare ourselves for OPEN HOUSE 2012 performance which is on 5 & 6/1/2012.

HOWEVER!!! Please take a look at the following name list! look for your name, and look at the Newly composed scores that you are involved in! and refer back to the training schedule so that

you will know which score training you have to attend.

For Example:

If i'm Yuanwei, i am involved in Shaobeng (SB), Jessica (JESS), Ziying/Yanqi (ZY/YQ), Felicia (FEL), Vivian's score.

So refering back to the Previous training schedule, i will have to attend training on

MON: 12-9PM

TUES: 3-6PM

WED:12-9PM

THURS:12-9PM

FRI: 10-2PM

For those who are not involved in the newly composed score, don't have to feel upset or anything okay?! cause i have an much more important task for you all!

Hi everyone, many of you didn't turn up for training or you all have left earlier. o to keep you all informed of the debrief, i've decided that i should post this up ^.^ hahahs so i dont have to keep repeating myself. hahahas. okay....

1) CCA Recruitment- we have officially recruited 142 members during the CCA Drive and these freshies will come for trial starting from next week.

- Due to the high number of freshies, we have decided to open one more slot on thurs for them. so please do make yourself free and come down to help :D

-Howeverm the freshies joining us, would also mean that we as the seniors, will have lesser time to play the drums... so what we can do is to promise you all with 15-20 mins of break time for the freshies, so that you all can play the piece you all want.
BUT PLEASE, treasure this few minutes and play it well okay!! hahahs cause this will be an influencing factors to the freshies to stay or to leave.

- Also, Salvo have won the best decorated booth award during the CCA Recruitment 2011, and i guess, its the first time that we win this. so hope that this will be a great start for Salvo this year and also every year down the road ^.^

2) Disipline
okay, something serious here :D

This is the start of second year for some of you and the last year for some of us... and for every year we have always been reminding you all about this issue right from the very first time you all come to salvo, even till when we are leaving, we still haven't keep this as a habit. And these are mainly:

- Do not touch the drums when we have people speaking at the front
- Be Punctual
- Standing posture

Please everyone, lets work together and put up our very best for the freshies okay :D hahas. teach and show they the right thing :D hahahas

4) Goals and Aims for SALVO
Like what i have been repeating over and over again, that this is the second year for some people always the last year for some others, hahahs. I think its time for us to put in some deep thoughts and think for salvo.

i mean, okay. you see, when we the main comm try our very best and come out with something like a goal of the year such as the Salvo Concert, and we tell you all. to some of you, you will think that 'okay thats an awesome idea! i like that' but you all aren't working together and putting in your effort to help Salvo to move toward the same direction. And what i felt was that, if everyone of us were to have an idea in mind and think of what Salvo should have, and yes. this is your own goal for salvo, i suppose you will work harder and acheive that. :D i hope that i'm right here.

so please everyone, as seniors, please put in some effort, and think of what should be ahead of salvo, and think about what you hope others to see salvo as.
think about this, do you want people to see Salvo as 'just an ordinary CCA in TP' or do you wan other people to see Salvo as ' Woah, its my pride and honor to be in this AWESOME CCA'. hope that you do see the difference between this two perception :D

5) Peers
I think we do know each other pretty well, from all the preparations for performances, the rehearsals and of course, i can see that al the trainings did really pull all of us together, and i pretty much enjoy this feeling, so do you all right! but, i just want to bring this issue up.

When you all are having fun, i bet there will be like some people dislike this person or that person right ^.^ but what i wan to say is that... i hope that Salvo, is more than just a CCA for you all to learn drumming and coaching skils, and hopefully Salvo can be a place that teaches everyone things beyond these, and these stuffs are... patience and tolerance towards your peers.

you may really hate this person, or dislike something about a person or a group, but if you are not going to say anything to that person, or to like attempt to help the person, he or she will just stay as how he or she is like, maybe for years or for life. For me personally, i do find this pointless, we as friends, shouldnt we help each other? hahahs.

so please help everyone in salvo, by allowing each and every salvo members to graduate from TP with a positive mind k! dont let our own peers to feel any single tiny bit of unhappiness :D

Farewell Speech?

Hi all,

This will probably be the last time I write an official post on this website. My journey in Salvo has officially come to an end as we hand over our duties to your new main comm yesterday. Please be patient with them like how you had all been patient with us, when we were just stepping up to our new positions. Give them and yourselves time to get use to the changes, and remember that whatever the main comm does, it will eventually be to the benefit of the group, no matter how unpleasant their decision may be at that point in time. Trust them on this.

I don't think that I can effectively convey what I feel about this group, but I will try.

When I first joined Salvo, I wasn't the crazy person that you all now know me as. lol. As unbelievable as that seems to be, it's the truth. I was introverted, I kept to myself, I didn't believe that I could ever fit in. My first year in Salvo was spent mostly keeping to myself, and it was only towards the end of the year did I open up a little more.

Then the second year came, and I became the secretary, which was when I had to be a little more outspoken, though not by much. It was a very eventful second year, when the previous year's bonded-ness start to show little cracks, multiple talks were had, and debriefs became a much dreaded affair (to me, at least). Aside from those, Salvo Drums had a good year. We won second place in DrumZout, we took part in Dreams II, we had our very own concert, and the icing on the cake - Arts Group of the Year. And of course, the Artiste of the Year came from us too, - Marc.

Now the third year. That was when I went crazy. hahaha. I don't know if it was because of the stress, or whatever. Recruitment numbers were far from satisfactory, and since then, the numbers have dwindled even more. It was a huge source of stress for us, and I can't help but wonder if it was something that we did wrong, that we were pushing all the members too hard, and that was why everybody was thinking of quitting. Long debriefs were had again, though this time round, the atmosphere wasn't as sombre as before? Hopefully.

Then we moved on from there, and things got slightly better, I think? The people leaving slowly lessened, and we were able to achieve a relatively comfortable balance between work and play. Dreams III came, and through the daily trainings I see you all mature and bond, across the different batches, as you all trained hard together. I remember how much fun and laughter we had during the dinner on the day of the full dress rehearsal. It was such an awesome feeling to see all of you laughing and joking and basically just enjoying each other's company. That is what Salvo Drums is about: to be serious when you're training/drumming, and after that, relax and have fun with your drum-mates. Thank you for giving me a chance to really experience that.=D

All in all, I think I have benefited way more from this group than I could ever give back. I became a more confident person, my temper improved (I think? I was so much worse in secondary school, lol) and though I don't know if I will be keeping in contact with everybody, all of you made a difference in my life. So I thank all of you, from the bottom of my heart, for coming into my life.

Good job if you actually manage to get through all of that verbal vomit, haha.

Best wishes to all of you, and bring Salvo to even greater heights together!

Updates!

Hi people! This blog has been neglected for so long... So sorry!

Anyways, I think most of you would have been done with all your papers by now (except Bryden, I think=x) So yup, training will be starting very soon!

Training will resume on 7 March, Monday, from 5pm to 9pm. There will be training on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for everybody. As per normal, remember to wear shoes, and bring your gu bangs!

Another thing would be regarding drumzout. For those of you who have no idea what drumzout is, it is a nationwide percussion competition that we once took part in. Here's the question: who is interested to take part in this competition?

Before you guys answer, please think about whether or not you can commit to your decision, as there would definitely be extra trainings and hard work, when we are training for the competition. The maximum number of people in a team is 20, so yeah, in a sense it's on a first-come-first serve basis, if everybody is eager to participate. For more information you can go to their website here

Testing Testing...Hello Hello.

Oh my, i hope this blog haven't rot yet. Sorry for the long long delays. Hmm, the last blog was on YOG, of cause that's not our last performance.
For the past few months, we had YouthPhoria, at Singapore Discovery Centre. Had rehearsal on the 23rd October, it was so early and we traveled from east to west. First ever performance that travel so far.
Actual Day was on 30th October, Half Costumes.

For the recent performance was the Korean Concert by U-Kiss, our first time ever performance to see international artists. Held at Berlin's Wall, Bedok Reservoir.
Had rehearsal on 18th November, performance on 19th November. We made a new record too, the longest way for carrying 16 drums.

Alright, I can't really remember everything. Paiseh.
Let's talk more for the upcoming performance.
6, 7, and 8th January will be Temasek Polytechnic's 2011 Open House. Our performing date will be 7 and 8th, which is Friday and Saturday.
All the information will be update soon in here.

YOG details

Hello hello.

As promised, I'm here with the details for the upcoming YOG opening ceremony.

First. There will be a rehearsal on this coming Friday, 6th August. LOA is given, from 2pm-9pm, so the latest that you all should reach studio by is 2.15pm. Your LOAs should have been approved already, so if yours haven't, do let me know.

The attire for this Friday's rehearsal is not restricted, but it'll be good if you can wear a dark coloured tee. Shoes are compulsory!

Second. On the actual day itself, 10th August, performers are to report at 12pm, in the phoenix shirt, shorts, and shoes. The non-performers, please report at studio 8 at 1.45pm, in shoes. Seniors are to wear the phoenix shirt as well, while the juniors can just wear the camp t-shirt. Lunch is not provided, so do eat something before you come, as dinner should be at around 7.30pm.

Third. As mentioned in debrief just now, there will be an outing to Marina Barrage on National Day, so those who are interested can go check out the details on our Facebook wall, and go like Vivian's post.

Hello all,

I hope all of you had the chance to rest well and recover from the muscle aches that I believe most of you have now, lol. Hopefully you've enjoyed the camp and for those who were unable to turn up for the camp, do not worry; you'll get the chance to catch up with the rest of them, with regards to their score progress in no time.

Just a few announcements to make, to those who didn't come for the camp. Salvo Drums won the Arts Group of the Year award for the previous academic year!=D This is our very first attempt at applying for this award and our success should be credited to all of the seniors, who have all played a part in achieving this recognition for the entire team. So, let's work hard together and show them that we are worthy of this award, for this year and beyond!=]

Also, Marc has won the Artiste of the Year award. Congratulations to you, and thank you for all that you've done and are still doing for Salvo Drums!=]

Lastly, the training time for this coming Monday, 14th June, has been changed to start at 5pm, and will end at 8pm, after which we will go for dinner together, so that all of us do not have to stay out too late.

Trainings & Camp

Hi all.

This is just a gentle reminder for all of you, regarding the Thursday trainings.

Training will start at 6pm, as per normal, but these Thursday trainings are optional, i.e. attendance will not be taken. However, as mentioned in the debrief, if the attendance rate for this Thursday training is less than 10 people, we will just cancel the Thursday training.

And there is one piece of good news: there is no restriction on footwear. lol. so yup, we will just close one eye regarding footwear for Thursday trainings, and only Thursday trainings. We will go through all the scores one by one, so it will definitely be beneficial if you turn up.

Secondly, next week would be the last week of training before we break for term tests. So the last training for the juniors would be on 19 May 2010, while for the seniors it would be on 20 May 2010. Training will resume on 7 June 2010, which is actually the camp.

Thirdly, we will combine the Monday and Wednesday group for this coming week's training, and the juniors will be briefed on the camp.

Lastly, would be the induction cum orientation camp in June, from 7 June - 9 June. More details will be given on Monday.

However, do take note that you should not be crowding the booth, so if there really is too many people at the booth, some of you can walk around TP to give out the flyers.

First of all, I would like to thank all the helpers who came to help out for the two performances this week. You all had been a tremendous help in helping out with the moving of drums.

Secondly, for the performance for Business Orientation and Regatta, they were both jobs well done=] Also, please remember all the things that were said during the debriefs, and keep them in mind.

Thirdly would be the upcoming CCA Recruitment Drive from 21s - 23rd April 2010. Performers, please take note that there will be a rehearsal on Tuesday, 20th April. Report at 6pm at studio 8, and come in shoes. Please be reminded that DINNER IS PROVIDED.

On the day of the performance (23rd April), LOA is given to all performers, from 10am to 2pm, so I'll expect to see you at latest 10.15am at our booth. LUNCH IS PROVIDED FOR THE PERFORMERS ON FRIDAY as well. Also, for the rest of you, please remember to tell me your timetable for the first week of school to ensure that there will be people manning our booth at all times.

Lastly, for those of you who did not get a chance to perform in any of these performances, don't be disheartened! Please do understand that there are a lot of you in this batch, and it is not possible to put everybody in for one performance. All of you will get your chance, so continue to work hard and jiayou!

Hello, it's me.

As promised, the list of performers for the CCA Recruitment Drive performance is as follows: Pei Yin, Jessica, Amanda, Marshall, Zi Ying, Jia Min, Soeng May, Kai Xin, Si Jia, Li Yen, Kaleryn, Cai Yan, Peng Song, Bryden, Edmund, Yuan Wei.

The rehearsal for the CCA Recruitment Drive will be on 20th April, at 6.30pm. Dinner will be provided. The performance is at 12.30pm on 23rd April, and likewise, lunch will be provided. LOA for the event will start at 10am and end at 2pm.

Now I'll just remind you all about the rest of our upcoming performances.

1. Business Orientation 2010

Score: Lang

The performance will be on 15th April. Our item is at 10.05am, but we are required to report at 8am. Report at studio 8 at 7.30am on that day.

The rehearsal for business orientation is on 14th April, at 2pm. Report at 1.15pm at studio 8. Remember to come in shoes.

Attire for this performance would be FULL COSTUME. For the rehearsal just report in any black shirt and preferably shorts.

2. Regatta

Score: Long River

Performance will be on 16th April, timing to be confirmed again.

Rehearsal will be after the Business Orientation performance on thursday. We will carry the drums over to Bedok Reservoir. The regatta performers, report at 1pm at studio 8.

Attire for Regatta would HALF COSTUME, with the phoenix shirt. So try not to wear the phoenix shirt for training during that week.

Dear all,

Genesis, our inaugural concert, has finally come to an end.
All our effort, sweat, blood, and hard work has definitely not been wasted.
It was a splendid show, simply marvellous,
And I'm very grateful and thankful to all of you for making the concert so wonderful.

I've received a lot of feedbacks, and a huge majority of them were excellent.
I'm sure the audience were definitely awed by each and every one of us,
So don't forget to thank your family and friends once again for gracing our concert,
Cause similarly, without their support our concert wouldn't had been so successful.

It doesn't matter.
Like I said, I'm sure everyone has put in their 100% in this concert already.

And it is the best way to put my Salvo journey to an halt.

Pre-concert Training

Hello all!

I believe majority of you have finished your exams.
Congratulations and I hope you did well. (:

Okay back to topic.
- Trainings from 2th - 12th of March (only weekdays) will begin everyday at 11am, and end around 9 - 9.30pm.

- But note that every Tuesday and Thursday of the week (for these 2 weeks), training will start at 10am instead.

- Training attire is same as usual, T-shirt and SHORTS.

- For Tuesdays and Thursday, PROPER COVERED SHOES MUST BE WORN!

- For Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, I can close an eye to that.
Happy? LOL (:

- Please have your breakfast before each day's training.

- Please bring money for meals! LOL. they are not provided.

- Absences are prohibited, unless it's for compassionate reasons or school matters. And sadly, illnesses are not included, so MC(s) are not accepted. (:

- Let me know EARLY if you have something on anyday during the 2 weeks and we will talk about it.

Okay that's about all. Everyone who see this please spread the message around to ask them to see this post. In case anyone says they didn't get the info.

Ticket Selling Rules ☺

1) Keep the first section of the Ticket
2) If tickets are lost, a police report has to be made and you are responsible for the cost of the lost tickets
3) Always keep the tickets and money carefully
4) Be responsible for your issued booklet of tickets
5) If you need more tickets, please approach Ruth... or if you know of any other salvo members who have extra unsold tickets, you could approach them too.
6) When you have finished selling all the tickets issued to you, contact Ruth to pass her the money collected.

Venue: The Bench outside One Stop Service Centre

Please come down and look for me there between these timings to collect your tickets and start selling to your friends :) Those who are unable to make it during these days or time slots, i would distribute the tickets when training resumes on 2 March.

PS. The Banner is OUT too :) Do keep a lookout for it along the sides of the bridge entrance to school.

Springtime Harmonies, 春天琴韵, is a fund raising concert held by Temasek Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra. Through this concert, we hope to raise more funds to lessen our expenses for the exchange trip to Taiwan during March.

Hi people, this will be the flow of tomorrow's training:

6pm - 6.30pm
Voting session will be described to members.
Members will be given some time to make their last decisions on their votes.
Members are prohibited to hold discussions.
Juniors will also be split into their groups for their new scores at the same time.

6.30pm - 9pm
Voting will start at 6.30pm sharp.
Members who will be late will proceed to studio 8 straight to vote first.
Training will resume after majority of the people have voted.

Please be reminded again that this is NOT a election. Voting is just a component of the whole selection process.

Hi all,

The term tests are over, hope you all did well for your papers.
Don't brood too much over it if you didn't too, work harder for sem2 term 2. (:

Okay main point, please be reminded that training resumes next monday, 14th December, 6pm - 9pm. There will not be any official PT, but I would probably be jogging in school on my own before training, partly for my NAPFA, and partly training for concert. If you want to join me, please drop me a message, or tag on the tagboard. HAHA.

As we have told you, training is going to be quite tough in lieu to our concert preparations, so work hard all of you! and enjoy your holidays! =D
